Okay, before I launch into this blog post—which was supposed
to be, “I’m still alive! I’ve finally got a new release coming out! And a
newsletter!”—I need to make a, well, really embarrassing announcement.
So, I got everything set up on Amazon for Ben & Gavin
and just used a rough draft as the “book” and the teaser graphic in place of
the cover. But. I forgot that you have to update it within in a certain
timeframe or you’re basically screwed. SO. After several emails and, not gonna
lie, quit a few tears, the upshot is this: If you’ve already ordered Ben &
Gavin, the pre-order copies that will be delivered to your Kindles on Wednesday
are just a pre-edit, no front or back matter, messed up format, rough draft.
Amazon can’t promise me when the corrected version will be available in your
library—anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. Yes, days. SO, if you don’t
want to wait for the update (and, why would you? You pre-ordered it for a
reason!) please email me at juliaknightwylde@gmail.com
with proof of purchase (screencap of the payment or screencap of the messed up
file or… whatever method you can think of) and I will send you the correct
version.
I’m so sorry for the inconvenience. The last time I did a self-pub, I had
the entire Heartsville crew with me and Nico Jaye walked me through it
step-by-step. I thought I could do it this time without an external brain.
Clearly, that wasn’t the case.
Now, onto the update!
I had planned to write a post here, uh, nine days ago. I thought it would
be kind of funny to update it exactly two years to the day of my last post. I
couldn’t even manage that. Life is just so damn busy. And, the last couple of
weeks have been especially bonkers. Last minute revisions, last minute edits,
more revisions, driving everyone everywhere, and then! One of our cats got really
sick. Our furbaby was touch-and-go for a while there and it really knocked us
sideways. He had a blocked bladder, needed to be rushed to the ER, days of
fluids and procedures. Ugh. He’s such a big part of our family and we were all
out of sorts until he was on the mend. He seems to have made a full recovery!
But, man, I never want to go through that again.
Anyway. I’m back from basically a year-long writer’s block. Most of 2016,
I’d open a file, pick at a story, and then close it again. I just couldn’t do
it, ya know? But! I think that’s behind me. I finished Ben & Gavin. Cate Ashwood and I finished our co-write, When
the Devil Wants In. As you know, Ben & Gavin is releasing on October 18th.
When the Devil Wants In is set to release sometime in February or March through
Dreamspinner Press. We’re already mapping out a follow-up for that one, so,
yay! Things are flowing again.
If you’re interested, I’m putting out a newsletter. No promises it’ll be
frequent, but it’ll have info on upcoming releases, snippets of WIPs, and
hopefully the occasional free-read or deleted scenes from new releases. You can
sign up for that here.
I hope everyone out there is doing well and enjoying the change of
seasons.
And remember, if you wake up on the 18th to the wrong version
of Ben & Gavin, don’t hesitate to email me. I’ll get the correct version to
you right away.
I almost forgot! If you haven’t read Ben and Gavin’s prequel, The Best
Parts, you can find it here.
Good story
